South Pacific Pictures Ltd is New Zealand’s largest screen production company, with an international reputation for producing world-class television and film. The company has produced over 5,000 hours of television and film, including co-productions with Seven Network Australia, Universal Pictures, ABC, BBC, ITV and Sony Pictures.

Its major production is a prime-time long running serial, Shortland Street, which plays five nights a week at 7pm. Shortland Street is in its 25th year with over 5,000 episodes on air. It is New Zealand’s highest rating and most successful drama programme.

South Pacific Pictures most recent productions include The Brokenwood Mysteries, 800 Words, Westside the prequel to the hit drama series Outrageous Fortune which was adapted for US and UK audiences, The Almighty Johnsons, Go Girls, Nothing Trivial, The Blue Rose, Being Eve, City Life as well as the epic family drama Maddigan’s Quest produced with the BBC, and Captain Cook: Obsession & Discovery.

South Pacific Pictures’ film credits include the Academy Award nominated and BAFTA winning, Whale Rider, as well as What Becomes of the Broken Hearted the sequel to Once Were Warriors, Sione’s Wedding, Sione’s 2: Unfinished Business, My Wedding & Other Secrets and White Lies.
