Objective Media Group is launching a new quiz and game show label with Ben Shephard and Ed de Burgh. Setting up with immediate effect, the as-yet unnamed label draws upon Ed and Ben’s 20 years collective experience in the genre and will be a bespoke home for quiz and game ideas within OMG.
Ed’s credits include executive producing 5 Gold Rings and the pilot of What Would Your Kid Do? for ITV. He exec produced and co-devised the launch episode of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show (BBC One) and co-created You’re Back in the Room (ITV). He series produced shows including The Million Pound Drop Live (Channel 4), Pointless, Pointless Celebrities (BBC One), Celebrity 15 to 1 and the relaunch of 15 to 1 (Channel 4). He produced on multiple series of the award winning Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (ITV1). As a Channel 4 Commissioning Editor: Entertainment, he oversaw The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, Celebrity 15 to 1 and Alan Carr’s New Year Specstacular.
Ben’s on-screen credits include Tipping Point, Tipping Point: Lucky Stars, Good Morning Britain, This Morning, Ninja Warrior UK and The Krypton Factor for ITV; Goals on Sunday for Sky Sports and The National Lottery: 1 vs 100 for BBC One.
Ben said: “I’ve loved hosting numerous quiz shows and game shows over the years. I am fascinated by what makes a great programme, and really enjoy the development process and shaping new formats. Ed and I have been mates for a very long time, so I jumped at the chance to work with him. With his vast background in developing, producing and commissioning, along with my years in front of the camera, hopefully we can create some really exciting ideas…just as long as my West Ham stays above his Spurs (correct at time of publication).”
Ed said: “The chance to work with Ben was too good an opportunity to miss. Between us we’ve worked on so many great shows, we now want to create the next generation of quiz and game formats and working with OMG is the ideal place to do that.”
OMG’s CEO Layla Smith and Commercial Director Holly Pye said: “The idea of bringing together the two brilliant quiz and game minds of Ed and Ben was impossible to resist. They are perfectly placed to develop and deliver shows not only for the UK market, but that also have the potential to travel, and we are excited to see what they come up with.”
