Great British Menu is a staple of the BBC TWO schedule and sees the best chefs in Britain compete to devise the perfect four course meal for a banquet marking a special British occasion. Previous series have culminated in a sumptuous feast for Her Majesty, the Queen, to mark her 90th birthday, honoured British soldiers returning from duty in Afghanistan, celebrated local British food producers in conjunction with HRH the Prince of Wales, and commemorated the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings with then Prime Minister, David Cameron.
The competition is fast and fierce as 24 of the country’s finest culinary talents do battle across eight regional heats before going head to head in the national finals. In charge of proceedings are judges Matthew Fort, Oliver Peyton OBE and for the first time this year, food broadcaster and cook Andi Oliver, who along with a weekly guest judge must ensure the final menu is fit for the occasion and represents the very best in gastronomy.
